>Matthew_Larocque: BEGOOSV 8G VOG +14 14
#note It's been ages since I played Scrabble, so here begins my 51 game journey in two cities. Thrills and nightmares await! Which one comes first?
>Michael_Bray: AO G7 A.O +8 8
>Matthew_Larocque: ABDEFOS F5 FOB +14 28
#note SOFABED. Yes, I've slept on a bed in a sofa alright. Those things are terrible.
>Michael_Bray: BEY E4 BEY +31 39
>Matthew_Larocque: ADEEIIS D1 IDEA +20 48
>Michael_Bray: ADEELRS C1 LEADERS +83 122
>Matthew_Larocque: EIIRSTW 10B WIRIEST +77 125
>Michael_Bray: AC 2B C..A +14 136
#note Wow this is not a word, I was thinking it was the singular of CEDI. Because I thought CEDI did not take an S. I was way off.
>Matthew_Larocque: AEINNTY 1C ..TANY +29 154
#note LINENY/LINNEY sim a little worse but have a slight chance to draw challenges. However Mike rarely challenges so it makes little sense to try those tactics.
>Michael_Bray: ??AOQSU 2H OpAQUeS +87 223
#note Suddenly this is an uphill battle.
>Matthew_Larocque: EHHINOR 1M HEH +33 187
>Michael_Bray: ILTU K2 .UILT +28 251
>Matthew_Larocque: IINORRW L4 NOIR +16 203
#note I started to chew up my timer here feeling like this would be pretty damn hard to come back from.
>Michael_Bray: JLST C9 J.LTS +40 291
>Matthew_Larocque: AEEIRTW 13A WA.TERIE +62 265
#note Have to play this instead of SWEATIER both to open both TWS squares and the small chance he challenges.
>Michael_Bray: MPR H12 P.RM +33 324
>Matthew_Larocque: EGIKRUX 3G KUE +21 286
#note 14A EX didn't seem like it was worth the risk. I also saw 12H PUKIER but I think I wanted to keep a vowel and thought turnover didn't have any particular merit here. For what it's worth, sim agrees here, and points out XU in the same spot which I don't think I even noticed.
>Michael_Bray: NO A13 .ON +18 342
>Matthew_Larocque: GIMNRVX B13 .X +36 322
#note Perfect! However I am still only given 12% chance to win here. Apparently E9 VIM is better though?
>Michael_Bray: CO D8 CO. +17 359
>Matthew_Larocque: GGIMNRV E9 G.NG.R +27 349
#note I saw this before Mike made his play, I was excited he made it even better! I think I was down under 2 minutes here. 17.5%
>Michael_Bray: AEP 15A .EAP +19 378
>Matthew_Larocque: ADIMNVZ 12H .AVID +22 371
#note Frantically playing to score points. Hoping I can get a decent Z play. 37%
>Michael_Bray: DELO J10 LO.ED +15 393
>Matthew_Larocque: EFMNNTZ K11 F.N +24 395
#note Down to final seconds, I'm under the impression I can't play off enough letters to win here. In reality, it's actuallly Mike who has this problem! If I had played faster I would have realized this.
>Michael_Bray: IIU I8 .I +4 397
#note He misses KI.
>Matthew_Larocque: EMNTZ 6K ..Z +12 407
>Michael_Bray: IU 15H .I +4 401
>Matthew_Larocque: EMNT M1 ..M +14 421
#note Handful of better plays here, 11C (L)E(N)T and an outplay I would probably have never seen in T(IN)MEN. I went over by 1 second in an attempt to beat the clock.
>Michael_Bray: U 12C .U. +12 413
>Michael_Bray: (ENT) +6 419
#note I ended up scored as 424, and then lost 10 points because of one second. Not the way I want to start any tournament! This would come back to bite me of course, every game matters and every win matters. I've had so many games where I thought I had lost, didn't care about my time, then came back but took too long! Never again.
