#note another idea here is fishing either an L (YOKEL) or an M - CILOST and CIMOST combine pretty well with the pool for nice high-scoring column O bingos. fishing the L hoping to draw SOMATIC/OSMOTIC/SOMITIC for 102 sims best. neat! this is very close.
>Martin_Demello: DINOPSS -DINOP +0 218
>JD: ILOSTTU 9L TUI +15 179
#note leave much better after TOLU although opening the triple does give away a few free points.
>Martin_Demello: AEGIRW 10C EARWIG +25 243
>JD: HLNOOST C9 H.LOT +24 203
#note HOSEL is available for a cool 45 points. sweet.

>JD: AFGNOOS D12 FOG +26 258
#note good to threaten something here - he may have to sacrifice points to block.
>Martin_Demello: ADEFJNO -ADE +0 276
>JD: AGNNOSS 10L SNOG +25 283
#note leaving the main threat open. Q loves ENNOGS, 3 Ns left and an extra shot at a blank.
>Martin_Demello: DDI E13 DID +12 288
>JD: AAEFNRS F14 FA +31 314
#note there are tons of incentives for playing more tiles here - the J is a free 38 points and both blanks are out! with that in mind, FAENA at D1 looks better than FA. the strength of the AENRS leave is less relevant on this closed-ish board. more important to pull a blank.
>Martin_Demello: ALNP D1 PL.NA +26 314
>JD: ABENRSV B5 BRAVE +17 331
#note puneet, who happened to be spectating, pointed out the correct play here - GRAVEN at O10, which turns over as many tiles and makes it quite hard to bingo. in fact, after GRAVEN I seem likely to win unless maritn finds a bingo, which will be tough on this board.
>Martin_Demello: BNOR M9 ..BORN +16 330
>JD: EEEHINS 15K SHEEN +45 376
#note there are clearly chances for me to win here. one option would be to fish an E (WE at F10) and try to draw HEINIES/HENNIES in two spots (4/9 chance) and also HEMLINES at 1F. The problem is that, even if I draw the right letter, he can still have JELLIED for 100+ (not to mention GIDJEES for 122), in which case HEINIES or HENNIES would lose by a few points. Another option is to block JELLIED pre-emptively by fishing (DA)E, but then I block the second spot for HEINIES and HENNIES. My play of SHEEN allows him to bingo about 60% of the time and still can't always outrun him, so this was probably not a good enough option. I'm not really sure what the right call is.
