#player1 Matthew_O'Connor Matthew O'Connor
#player2 John_A_Fox John A Fox
>Matthew_O'Connor: EEEGIOO 8H OGEE +10 10
#note Ugly starting rack. I picked this because it's pretty defensive and the leave isn't truly awful. GI being good now might tip the scales to exchanging, however.
>John_A_Fox: AFUX 7J FAUX +29 29
>Matthew_O'Connor: ABEIOOR 9F OORIE +19 29
#note Help here? This is the only play that keeps a reasonable vowel consonan ratio, even if that means AB. AB should be superior enough to EIO to justify this over BORAX?
>John_A_Fox: NOT 10J TON +14 43
>Matthew_O'Connor: AABIPYZ 10D BAY +29 58
#note Weird turn. I thought he would play under BAY giving me even better spots for the Z and also the leave is superior. PYA might have too many points and defense to resist, however.
>John_A_Fox: ABJ 11C JAB +36 79
>Matthew_O'Connor: AIIIOPZ 12C OPA +38 96
#note Here's a weird decision. I could play ZOA and try to hit a ZAP play later, or I can play OPA and save the Z for a more opportune moment. The problem is that IIIZ is really not a promising leave for something on this board, unless I have something like WIZ on the triple. Another interesting option is POI, which I did not consider, keeping a better leave and setting up less. If given a do over, I probably would play POI.
>John_A_Fox: DK H7 D..K +9 88
>Matthew_O'Connor: IIIUWWZ 11K WUZ +42 138
#note Yes, this really happened
>John_A_Fox: GLO 13A LOG +30 118
>Matthew_O'Connor: EIIIORW M11 .OWIE +34 172
#note I really, really hate this play but I don't know what else to do. OI(L)ER is a ridiculous equity sacrifice to knock out the triple triple and he's going to bingo soon anyways. Perhaps I can exchange too. I'm really stuck here, thoughts?
>John_A_Fox: AENRRST 15G TERRAN.S +77 195
#note Dodged a bullet in that he doesn't have a triple triple either place
>Matthew_O'Connor: FHIIQRV 14F QI +33 205
#note FLIR seems somewhat attractive since this spot is unlikely to be blocked, but I probably have a better future with something somewhere after this
>John_A_Fox: EM 6L ME +17 212
>Matthew_O'Connor: FHIRTVY N2 FIRTH +54 259
#note Chickened out on FRITH, thinking it was Collins for some reason. This really isn't that much worse though, because plays like PEED hit somewhat hard on the triple
>John_A_Fox: CEET O1 CETE +31 243
>Matthew_O'Connor: GINPRVY 8A PRYING +46 305
>John_A_Fox: AEV 5J AVE +17 260
>Matthew_O'Connor: AELLMUV A11 VE.UM +33 338
#note I chickened out on VELLUM and didn't know VALLUM. Seriously tempted to play something on top of MA though, as I can play horizontally across prying next turn and basically prevent him from bingoing. This does a good job outrunning bingos too, though.
>John_A_Fox: AD M3 DA +17 277
>Matthew_O'Connor: ADHLLST C3 LASTL. +20 358
#note I really like this play. It basically prevents him from winning twice unless he bingos to the P or something weird, and bingoing twice is basically his only way of winning the game at this point, since an 81 point lead with triples about to be opened should cut it.
>John_A_Fox: ?AEINTU G1 UrINATE +62 339
#note He has basically no chance of winning the game unless he draws 9s so INSULATE is out of the question
>Matthew_O'Connor: ?CDHINS 1F C.SHIoN +36 394
#note I chickened out on everything here and just went for the easy out in two. I really don't see why I would lose here ever, a thorough quackle search reveals no 9s play and there's no way he can score enough to win. Mostly I was happy enough with lastly and pissed off he didn't set up ECHIDNAS or something.
>John_A_Fox: DEIINOR D2 NIDI +20 359
>Matthew_O'Connor: DEO 2I ODE +21 415
#note Don't remember the endgame but the final score was actually 418-359 so this isn't right.
>Matthew_O'Connor: (LRS) +6 421
