#note I hadn't closely considered the more restrictive QI 8G due to the leave, but it does 5 points better in a sim. It doesn't seem resoundingly better to me, but I can see the case for it.

#note Nothing stood out to me here. Sim prefers 11D TREF 23 by about 3 over this. For scoring and defense I can see now why it would be best. I simply didn't see TREF (I'll blame it being the first game of the morning) or I probably would have played it.
>Jeff_Cook: ABHL 11D BLAH +27 68
#note Scored as 24
>David_Weisberg: EGILTUW D11 .EWIG +26 99
#note The only comparable play is 12A WITE 30. It comes out about 1.5 ahead, but like many I really hate the G. Here, putting it in this position does make me more vulnerable to 3x3s than WITE does, but overall my opponent bingos less and I bingo more after BEWIG. However, BEWIG might be hurt by some easy plays on the C column that block the triple and give little back, since there are few other places to play besides the triple. They are pretty close and it's probably the raw points that ultimately put WITE ahead.

#note I struggled here. I didn't see MAAR or I might have found 12F AEON 19. My morning brain didn't even see OHED, or I might have thought about this position differently. AEON sims best, followed closely by 13K TOEA, which I did consider, but that seemed to be asking for trouble. L12 AERO 10 might have been okay too. Notably 13L AEON 16 comes in well behind these, as does 15M EON 13. My exchange is rated 9 points behind 12F AEON.

#note Ned Flanders' parents save the day!
>Jeff_Cook: CELO O6 COLE +30 333
>David_Weisberg: AEEOPRT 4D PROTEA +32 320
#note Sim favors 13J APEEK 30, which I didn't see. It's interesting in that it keeps R for RYA with only one more R unseen and the other P gone. I might have balked seeing the 3 remaining O's though. I felt at this point I had to keep scoring but also dive for the blank if I was to have any chance.
>Jeff_Cook: EHLOST 3H THOLES +37 370
>David_Weisberg: ?EFIORS 6A FO. +8 328
#note Quackle likes L10 FOE 10 here and claims it wins 87% of the time, compared to 65% of the time for FOU, or 78% for H1 FETE 21. I'm not sure a human would respond similarly to FOE as a computer would, especially if they have N for PROTEAN. I see now that lacking an N does make it hard to block both spots. It wouldn't have occcured to me to keep all the bingo lines clustered in this quadrant, and FOU seemed to create more of a true dilemma. FOU actually bingos more often, so I'm not sure what to make of this. I believe I was also in time trouble at this point. It was a tough spot, but I don't regret my choice, considering.
>Jeff_Cook: DEEMW 2J MEWED +53 423
#note Didn't have time to see this possibility but it might have made me look at something lie FOE more
>David_Weisberg: ?EINRST 5H ESTRINs +71 399
#note It turns out even if I had a bingo through F in FOU (that wasn't a 3x3), the 83 would have put me 3 points short of winning, which should actually be 6 points short because of BLAH being underscored. With probably under a minute left, I missed the EMO hook for bingos like ENTRIES for 76, but it wouldn't have mattered here as nothing higher scoring would have fit. Final score recorded as 420-405
