#player1 Jonathan_Lindh Jonathan Lindh
#player2 Arie_Sinke Arie Sinke
>Jonathan_Lindh: AGOVWYZ 8G WAVY +26 26
#note I missed YOWZA for 48, but surprisgingly, it's only about a 5.5 point mistake because GV is that terrible of a leave.
>Arie_Sinke: AABFIOT 7F OAF +18 18
#note This looks fine. OBIA 7J is interesting, and Quackle likes it, but it's far too aggressive for me.
>Jonathan_Lindh: GIOQSTZ 6D ZIT +18 44
#note Should have played ZIGS here. ZIT wasn't a good play.
>Arie_Sinke: ?ABEIRT H7 ..BRIcATE +89 107
#note After seeing my nine, I didn't look for long enough to come up with BApTIZER D1 for 94, which does look clearly better than this - it scores 5 more with no really serious liabilities.
>Jonathan_Lindh: BDGOQSX E5 Q. +22 66
#note Maybe play I13 BOX now. I need to make sure this isn't too big of a loss to win the second early bird.
>Arie_Sinke: EINOTUV 13G V.UNTIE +30 137
#note AS: Looks best.
JL: Should have gone with BOX.
>Jonathan_Lindh: BDGORSX 12L BOX +34 100
>Arie_Sinke: AAINOPT 11K IOTA +25 162
#note This optimizes score and leave and makes BOXY less dangerous.
>Jonathan_Lindh: DGGNRSS -DGG +0 100
#note I was about to play F11 GRIG for 6 and then picked it up because it obscured my bingo lines. I should have been playing to limit my damage since I had a lot of spread going into this game.
>Arie_Sinke: AEFINOP 10B PINAFO.E +77 239
#note Only bingo. He put down GRIG 11F, blocking the bingo, then picked it up and exchanged.
>Jonathan_Lindh: DKNORSS C9 K.RNS +28 128
#note I didn't even see O7 DORKS for 35. It worked out better I didn't.
>Arie_Sinke: CGIIILN 12A LI.ING +16 255
#note This looks good. Not sure if there's any way to try to control the board here that doesn't make an unacceptable equity sacrifice.
>Jonathan_Lindh: DIORSTY O8 DITSY +64 192
>Arie_Sinke: CDEGHIL A12 .ICH +27 282
#note This looks right. Glad to block eights to the E, and also glad to see BOXY/IOTAS go.
>Jonathan_Lindh: AAJLORS J6 JA. +29 221
#note I think this blocked something but I don't remember what.
>Arie_Sinke: ADDEGLO K5 GOD +22 304
#note This looks fine. Disappointed to see YOD/PINAFORED get blocked.
>Jonathan_Lindh: AELORSW L4 LOW +28 249
>Arie_Sinke: ?ADEEGL 3I GLEAmED +77 381
#note AS: Playing with ALOW is the only way to score 77 and take out both column N (mostly) and all the hooks on LOW. GLEAmED, GLEAnED, or GELAtED.
JL: This play blocked my bingo too that would have gotten me back into the game.
>Jonathan_Lindh: ACEMRSS 9H .ES +27 276
#note Quackle likes ZITS better even though my play scores more and there are a bunch of E's unseen. BES is still pretty solid though.
>Arie_Sinke: ADNORUU O1 RU.D +24 405
#note This gets as many points as is possible but it's probably not worth it. The R at O1 is not my friend with a 129 point lead. UNDO O1 looks so much better - it improves the leave and puts the useless U up there for a sacrifice of only 6 points.
>Jonathan_Lindh: ACMMRST 11G M.R +16 292
>Arie_Sinke: AEENORU 9C .ENO +17 422
#note Missed KUNE in the same spot, which is a pretty clear improvement.
>Jonathan_Lindh: ACMNSTU 2N M. +16 308
>Arie_Sinke: AEEEERU J13 .EE +5 427
#note I thought this blocked enough bingos for it to be worth it for spread (I didn't seriously believe I had a real chance of losing) - that does not appear to be the case, and I would do better with something like UREA N6.
>Jonathan_Lindh: ACNRSTU 7C TA +14 322
#note Now UNCRATES/CENTAURS/RECUSANT got blocked.
>Arie_Sinke: AEEHORU B6 HUE +17 444
#note I need to block SCRUPLE, but UREA looks like a better way to do it than HUE - I threated to go out more often if I don't keep a vowel heavy four tile leave.
>Jonathan_Lindh: CELNRSU A1 UNCLES +32 354
#note Best along with ULCERS and LUCRES in the same spot.
>Arie_Sinke: AEOPR 2E OPERA +16 460
#note AS: The endgame was played optimally by both players.
JL: Final score recorded as 463-354. I should have played more defensively in certain spots given my spread but losing by 109 was good enough to hold on to 1st place and get a second early bird win. Could I pull a hat trick and win the main event? Most certainly not and you will see why when I post the main event games.
>Arie_Sinke: (R) +2 462
