>Arie_Sinke: AEOPRTT 8D PORTATE +74 74
>Arie_Sinke: AEOPRTT -- -74 0
#note PORTATE# is Collins only. I saw it, and it looked familiar and knew that it didn't take an S, so I assumed that the reason why I was familiar with the word was because it was in NWL. There are no great options with this rack, it's between OPT and PROTEA.
>Mark_Garrod: AADEEIS -AE +0 0
#note This is Mark's actual rack. He can't give me an E or a D because of OPERETTA and TETRAPOD. He basically has to either exchange or play AA.
>Arie_Sinke: AEOPRTT 8H OPT +10 10
#note OPT is my best play, a lot better than PROTEA/POTTER type plays.
>Mark_Garrod: ADEGIOS J4 GODE.IAS +66 66
>Arie_Sinke: ?AEORTT 5E tATTO.ER +78 88
#note tATTOOER is my only 2x2 for78.
>Mark_Garrod: HNORTY K9 THORNY +35 101
>Arie_Sinke: ?EMMNWY 6D MEW +30 118
#note This looks good - scores, leaves and acceptable leave, doesn't open anything up.
>Mark_Garrod: IIIIIII -IIIII +0 101
>Arie_Sinke: ?KLMNRY J14 MY +26 144
#note This doesn't keep a perfect leave but I have to do it. Nothing else scores comparably except for PLY I8 for 22, which scores 4 fewer points with a comparable leave. I don't love the opening my play creates to the Y, but I don't have a great alternative.
>Mark_Garrod: AERVW 15E WAVER. +45 146
>Arie_Sinke: ?ADKLNR 9B RANKLeD +65 209
#note RANKLeD is my only bingo. I took a long hard look at DAK 14D for 39 and seriously considered playing it. I ultimately decided that the leave wasn't good enough to justify passing up on the bingo. I like keeping the blank but LNR has a bit of negative synergy. I was also aware of the CRANKLeD hook and didn't love bringing it into play with a lead. DAK wins a sim over RANKLeD by about 1 point. I am not 100% sure what the right call is here.
>Mark_Garrod: EIQU L2 QUI.E +28 174
>Arie_Sinke: AHIOOTV 14D OOH +32 241
#note QUIRE was an extremely aggressive play by Mark, sacrificing 17 points compared to QUIET H1 to create a new S hook. Between SQUIRE and CRANKLeD the board is now extremely volatile. There is no reason to do anything but play for equity here, but I'm getting concerned.
>Mark_Garrod: APZ 8A ZAP +48 222
>Arie_Sinke: AEILNTV 13B VENTAIL +86 327
#note Only bingo. Sets up AVENTAIL.
>Mark_Garrod: SU I12 US +15 237
>Arie_Sinke: DFIIIIL H2 FLI. +8 335
#note I can't figure out whether this play is brilliant or insane. Mark just played off US for 15 points and almost certainly holds a strong 5 tile leave with an S in it. FLIT is really my only play that (mostly) obstructs SQUIRE - something like LI M1 would set up a comparable spot with QIS. The problem is that Mark has other places to bingo (though mostly not high scoring), or even play something like JAGS A12 to pull within 30, and I have an atrocious leave and no real options for the near future. Quackle likes LIVID B11 or exchanging - and I did specify a leave of S for Mark in sims. LIFT is out, incidentally, because of CLIFT.
>Mark_Garrod: AEEGINS 2G E. +5 242
>Arie_Sinke: BBDIIIT 2F B..IT +18 353
#note I like this play. It obstructs as much as possible in two spots (1A-G and 1I-O.) Mark was actually fishing with AEGINS for several consecutive turns so I actually blocked a lot of things he could have gotten (CEASING, FEASING, ERASING.)
>Mark_Garrod: AEGINOS D9 .O +2 244
>Arie_Sinke: BCDIILN M1 BIND +32 385
#note I finally get a good opportunity to fully block SQUIRE.
>Mark_Garrod: AEGGINS 11B SIGNAGE +72 316
>Arie_Sinke: CCEIILR 3B CERCI +22 407
#note This looks fine.
>Mark_Garrod: JO 7B JO +26 342
>Arie_Sinke: ADEILRU A12 LAUD +30 437
#note Something like JOUAL 7B for 24 would leave FAUX open so I have to take the spot.
>Mark_Garrod: EEFNSUX N4 SEX +30 372
>Arie_Sinke: AEIR O6 IRE +18 455
#note This is an error. I should play REI 4C for 17 to block FEU 4C and FERN.
>Mark_Garrod: EFNU D1 FE.N +22 394
>Arie_Sinke: A B6 A... +13 468
