#player1 Carl Carl
#player2 Joey_K Joey K
>Carl: KNORRUU 8D KRONUR +30 30
#note I asked two people what they'd do with this rack, and both immediately said KRONUR. In fact, Joey went so far as to say that, with a few trivial exceptions, KRONUR is always the play regardless of the last tile. But with KRONUR + U specifically, it's actually pretty close between this, KORUN, and KURU. Still, KRONUR comes out on top.

>Joey_K: EIIOPQT L4 QI +23 198
>Carl: AADHINX 9K .AX +45 237
>Joey_K: AEGIOPT 6N PO +27 225
#note Need to go ahead and stop a cheap WO or YO type of play...G(O)OP at F7 is cute and all, but I don't want to completely kill the board at this juncture...and PATIO at E11 couldn't happen because leaving the G with 2 unseen
>Carl: AADHINR 10J D.NAR +25 262
#note This is suboptimal. I saw DEHAIR 10J, but my reasoning for DENAR was that the board is not very conducive to bingos, and figured the H was more useful as a scoring tile. Additionally, slating the R in Column O will sometimes lead to trouble, REJECT being particularly bad. Quackle says I'm overcomplicating things and just plays DEHAIR 10J or HAAR J10. (-5)
>Joey_K: ABEEGIT M3 GIB +27 252
>Carl: AHIINOS F8 .OH +31 293
>Joey_K: AEEEHRT E1 REHEATE. +72 324
>Carl: AIIINST L12 INIA +14 307
#note Sim winner here is O10 ISATIN, followed by F3 INTI. I think INTI can't possibly be right, and ISATIN seems counterintuitive, but looks ok, and I briefly considered playing it. I'm not down so much that I need to fish, and ISATIN scores 14 more points. Tough spot. (-8)
>Joey_K: CEFGMNS F2 FEM +38 362
>Carl: ILSSTTY 14A STYLI +27 334
#note This time, Quackle is totally wrong to play SLITTY O10, taking out the lanes I need to come back.... right? I do need a bingo, yes? Quackle also likes STY G1 or 14A, which do look a little better than my play. (-11?)
>Joey_K: CGGNSVW 15K V.NGS +27 389
>Carl: AOORSTU A7 OUTSOAR. +77 411
#note JK: Ugh
CJ: I needed a lucky draw and I got it. Joey just couldn't catch a break at this event.
>Joey_K: CGLTVWY 13F L.VY +14 403
#note CJ: Given how badly I played this year, I'm astonished that I took 5th place. I can't really pinpoint where I got lucky, but maybe it's situations like this. It happened a few times that I managed to bounce back from losing positions. Apart from the tie with Mike Frentz, that didn't really happen to my opponents.
>Carl: AACEEFL O12 ALE. +5 416
#note It's not worth it to block JOWS O12 becuase of JOW B5. ALAE C5 is best, retaining the out-in-two. (-6)
>Joey_K: CGJOTW G2 TWO +34 437
>Carl: ACEF 1A FACE. +33 449
