>Chuck_Armstrong: GHI 8F GHI +14 14
>Arie_Sinke: BEFNUUY F6 FU.UE +19 19
#note This looks slightly better than FUGU - trying to set up a hook for myself is pointless; might as well grab a few extra points.
>Chuck_Armstrong: BIIS 11C IBIS +22 36
>Arie_Sinke: ABDEINY 12A BINED +35 54
>Arie_Sinke: ABDEINY -- -35 19
#note If this were good, it would be an okay play, better than any alternative I have available. I'm not sure how I managed to convince myself that the surname of the current president of the United States has an anagram. I wasn't sure but decided to just play it because chickening out on good words costs me too much spread.
>Chuck_Armstrong: ?NRRSSU H8 .NSUReRS +74 110
>Arie_Sinke: ABDEINY 12A DENY +36 55
#note BABY D9 for 22 sims quite well. It didn't sim as well last turn, but DEIN is more likely to bingo now that I have a bunch of good floaters.YABBIE D8 also looks better than this now that the S hook isn't such a big deal.
>Chuck_Armstrong: CEO A12 .ECO +21 131
>Arie_Sinke: ?AABDIN I2 INDABAs +68 123
#note I was slightly unsure about the validity of RAINBAND and as a result managed to convince myself that INDABAs was a better play anyhow for defense. It isn't, it sims about 4 points back (despite scoring 6 points less). My error paid off, because if I had played RAINBAND Chuck would have scored well with the Z on the triple.
>Chuck_Armstrong: AEOZ H1 ZOEA +50 181
>Arie_Sinke: ACIMNVX 14F VA.IX +39 162
#note Looks good.
>Chuck_Armstrong: EFLO G3 FLOE +30 211
>Arie_Sinke: ACEIMNR C7 CREM..I +30 192
#note This looks sophisticated but isn't a very good play. The best play by far is ICEMAN 15J for 42. If I miss that it's better to fish. Something simple like dinking off the M for 13 around VARIX is fine, or maybe NeMA 13G instead for a bunch of extra points - scores only 2 less than my play and keeps a far more developed leave.
>Chuck_Armstrong: ART 10C .AT.R. +18 229
>Arie_Sinke: ADNOOTW 8A WO.D +30 222
#note I found the best play here!!!
>Chuck_Armstrong: PT 13G P.T +18 247
>Arie_Sinke: AEEHNOT J5 HOE +21 243
#note I figured that I would cross my fingers that Chuck didn't have an A or an I (which he in fact did not have.) This looks boring but is probably best.
>Chuck_Armstrong: ENT A6 NE.T +7 254
>Arie_Sinke: AEINTTT K4 TIT +23 266
#note Looks like TAT is substantially better and this is a misevaluation. I know bingo leaves with Is are better than those with As, and the I might also help me get high scoring sixes at 15J.
>Chuck_Armstrong: EEGNW B2 NGWEE +26 280
>Arie_Sinke: AEGLMNT 4A T.ANG +20 286
#note Fishing off the M will threaten a bingo with 10/22 unseen tiles here. I think if I do draw a bingo (most are at L6, except for UNGULATE) there is a higher than average chance that Chuck will successfully block it. This play only sims about 3 points back in spread and is probably a reasonable choice.
>Chuck_Armstrong: IJRUY 2A I.JURY +24 304
>Arie_Sinke: DELMOQV A1 Q. +33 319
#note Got so lucky to get a place for the Q here.
>Chuck_Armstrong: EILP L1 PILE +22 326
>Arie_Sinke: DELMORV 1L .ROM +24 343
#note PROM, as well as most alternative plays, actually loses the majority of endgames (7/8) with optimal play from both sides. It looks like I can steal one more endgame with VIRL - I win if I get the L or the S. The problem is that Chuck could block any out that I draw aroud the TE spot and milk enough points from me with the CREMINIS hook (I should have played CRIMINE instead) and win, even if I end up going out first.
>Chuck_Armstrong: AAKLOOS M4 SOAK +16 342
#note There are a few really tough wins here - clearest path to victory for him is LOOK M4, threatening to go out with CASA/CREMINIS and win by 3. OAKS instead of SOAK loses because I can go out in two while blocking MOLA.
