#note WARNING: The game you are about to witness is arguably one of the most horrendous performances of Scrabble you will ever see from a "division 1 player".

For a little context, my roommate had a travel nightmare and arrived to our hotel at 1 AM, which woke me up from my sleep. I tossed and turned the rest of the night but never made it back to bed, and my brain literally ceased to work by the end of this game.

I saw the bingos VITA(L)ItY and VA(L)IdITY, but decided to pass them up for more points even though I wasn't 100% sure on VIRALITY*. What a way to start nationals.......
>Orry_Swift: AEU 9G EAU +10 38
>Matt_Canik: ?AIITVY 10I TIVY +14 14
#note And I also miss the playable 7 AVIdITY. My confidence was really shot after losing the first-turn challenge
>Orry_Swift: AEIMM 7G MAMIE +26 64
>Matt_Canik: ?AEIIPS E4 aPIA.IES +86 100
>Orry_Swift: DEN L9 D.NE +16 80
>Matt_Canik: AFGILNV F4 GIF +34 134
#note As the leading player, I'd rather try and start blocking than play FLAV(a), especially if I hold the DYNEL hook and a V to block with
>Orry_Swift: EORU F10 ROUE +12 92
>Matt_Canik: ABCDLNV K3 CABL.D +22 156
#note My confidence is so low after losing my first-turn challenge that I'm scared to play CALV(E)D because I can't remember if CALVED or CLAVED* is the phoney in that set. I also wanted to knock out MAMIES pretty badly and this seemed like as good a time as any to do it
>Orry_Swift: AELQU 13I QUALE +57 149
#note ow
>Matt_Canik: EFINSVW D1 VIEW +40 196
>Orry_Swift: ENOOSTT M3 TOSTONE +72 221
>Matt_Canik: FGINOOS L2 FOG +27 223
#note Orry said this blocked AZO L3 for "a million"
>Orry_Swift: OPZ 6J P.O.Z +52 273
#note unfortunately, PLOTZ also scores about a million
>Matt_Canik: IJNORST N10 JOIST +71 294
>Matt_Canik: IJNORST -- -71 223
#note My brain is so foggy right now. I've known for 10 years that QUALE doesn't take an S, but I had this huge play here and I thought "hmm, QUARE and QUATE don't take an S, so I guess maybe this one does" god I'm so stupid why do I even play scrabble
>Orry_Swift: ANNO N8 ANON +12 285
>Matt_Canik: IJNORST 14H JIN +27 250
#note Only one O unseen...
>Orry_Swift: CHIOR 15D CHIRO +66 351
#note there it is
>Matt_Canik: HORSTTX 10A HOTT.. +11 261
#note idk man. T(A)X/JINX is good here
>Orry_Swift: DEENUW A8 UN.EWED +54 405
#note UNHEWED* is invalid, but Orry insta-played it and I sincerely doubted he'd phoney in a 3x3 line with a blank unseen and a 90-point lead... so now I've lost two turns on phoneys and also allowed a 54 point phoney to go
>Matt_Canik: BIRRSTX 13E R.X +18 279
#note Missing JINX plays again
>Orry_Swift: Y 3C Y. +10 415
>Matt_Canik: BDGIRST O8 BID +41 320
#note I'm completely dejected from my horrible play this game. I mistracked, then figured out my mistake and saw his rack. I saw that he could 3x3, then I saw that he might have massive plays in the O column, and once I saw words that fit there, I felt compelled to block them.... completely forgetting that he was otherwise going to 3x3.

Sleep is important.

Worst game I've ever played, and it left me rattled for the rest of the tournament. Only I could find a way to take a game where I'm probably 75% to win and manage to lose it by 235 instead.
