>steve: DEGMSTW -DGMW +0 0
#note Exchanging is best, old Quackle agrees. But what to keep? Seemed fairly obvious to me, but what do I know? Granted the differences are small, but there are preferences, and anyone writing a paper on how Scrabble can be hard can start here. My choice for a leave, EST, comes up third-best in a sim. The top choice is a leave of DEST, followed next by EMST. EST is ahead of DEMST, which is interesting in itsef, seeming as it does to invite more consonants.
No less of an authority than the late Robert Felt, a former National champ, decreed to never wanting to keep a D and T together in a leave. I can only suppose the computer likes trading in three tiles rather than four tiles to avoid clunkers messing things up.
>kevin: ACERZ H4 CRAZE +38 38
#note The ugly vertical opening.
>steve: EENNOST 5B TENONE.S +66 66
#note Not having this anagram pair down cold costs 16 points of equity, and a missed double-double.
>kevin: ART I5 .TAR +21 59
>steve: DILOUWY 9D WOULD +28 94
>kevin: FGO 4C FOG +26 85
>steve: DEFHIUY 10F HI +28 122
#note Took some time on this play and came up with third best. WIFEY first, HUFFED second. The YU combo is garbage.
>kevin: ENOPY J7 PEONY +29 114
>steve: DEFRUVY C1 DUF..R +26 148
#note RUFFED sets up the next play on the small chance the opponent doesn't block. Q says it's best. Defensive players might like RY(N)D.
>kevin: CKLP 2A PL.CK +26 140
>steve: ?EEILVY F2 YE +38 186
#note Bad form to miss the bingo here. I considered playing the word at d9, so this is a board vision error. Also, LYE is better than YE.
>kevin: ABGR 1F BRAG +29 169
>steve: ?EIILUV 2H LIVE +20 206
#note d9 WIVE, or k11 EVIL
>kevin: AE K10 AE +16 185
>steve: ?IIOOUW L11 WOO +21 227
>kevin: AENRSTU L2 SAUNTER +74 259
>steve: ?EIIIQU -III +0 227
#note Q likes keeping one of the i's.
>kevin: DIV 14J VID +23 282
>steve: ?ELNOQU 8A QUEaN +45 272
#note It's a mistake to burn the blank; Duck says set up a line with 13k L(O)O, or LOON, but I like its third choice LENO at 8a, which at least scores something.
>kevin: AAEHMOS M3 HM +28 310
>steve: ADEGILO M12 DIEL +25 297
#note IDEA here is better and best
>kevin: AAINSTT N6 ATTAINS +65 375
#note Something IDEA on the last play would have prevented
>steve: AABEGIO O5 AGIO +26 323
>kevin: ?IIJORT 9A IT +15 390
>steve: ?ABEIJR 15M .IB +15 338
#note k1 JERBoA for 45, but it's only window dresssing at this point.
>kevin: EIMOSX 10A SEX +29 419
>steve: ?AEJR N1 AJi +23 361
>kevin: IMO O1 MO +33 452
