Player 1
#player1 Marty_Gabriel Marty Gabriel
#player2 Jonathan_Lindh Jonathan Lindh
>Marty_Gabriel: EELRSTT 8C SETTLER +66 66
#note Chicago Literacy Tournament: Game 2: After playing the 2nd seed, now I get to play the top seed! All of the bingos go for 66. Pick one. Marty did and this play is just fine.
>Jonathan_Lindh: AFFOOSW 7H WOOF +19 19
#note Do I do this or the 9A or 7A WOOFs? I settled on this because I thought it gave less back. Anyways, this is a best play along with the other two.
>Marty_Gabriel: AABES 8K ABASE +35 101
#note Sigh, another unfortunate break, but at least Marty burns bingo tiles.
>Jonathan_Lindh: AFHIQSU D4 FIQU. +34 53
#note 3rd best play! I thought this was best but apparently I missed SQUISH or SQUASH at C8. Oh well, this worked out for the better.
>Marty_Gabriel: CW M7 C.W +15 116
#note Marty spent a really long time and played this. What could he have?
>Jonathan_Lindh: ?AEHNOS E7 S.ANHOpE +72 125
#note 3rd best play! O8 ENHALOES for 80 and N8 SENHORAS for 79 are the two better bingos than this one. There are a ton of bingos at 72. This is -8 but as you will see this play also worked out for the better.
>Marty_Gabriel: AAILNPS 15E SALPIAN +88 204
#note Best play! Had I done either of the two better bingos, Marty would have had SALPIANS for a bunch. Plus he had SALPIANS at C8 no matter what. We both knew SALPIANS so no challenges or hesitations playing it.
>Jonathan_Lindh: EGIJKNZ 14C JE.Z +71 196
#note Best play! STANHOPE/SALPIAN results in this for me. THis sequence will work out well for me.
>Marty_Gabriel: DEX C3 DEX +36 240
>Jonathan_Lindh: GIIKNOV 10D I.VOKING +76 272
#note Best play and only bingo for me! Took a little while to see this for some reason.
>Marty_Gabriel: HTTY 12D H.TTY +30 270
#note This is new!
>Jonathan_Lindh: ABGGINR 14J BARING +42 314
#note Best play! I am having a really good sequence!
>Marty_Gabriel: ELU O12 LU.E +18 288
>Jonathan_Lindh: AAEGRRT 13K RAG +19 333
#note I don't know. What to do here! There's a blank out so maybe I should block column O. However, Marty can easily outrun me and I need to score! Quackle likes B2 GAR which may be right but that opens the AGAR hook and the TREF hook with a blank out. But wait I have two A's! GAR...maybe. My play actually has a little higher equity than GAR. I think I may post this to a facebook group to get reactions on this one...
>Marty_Gabriel: DIV B2 VID +24 312
#note Now Marty opens an A hook with a blank out!
>Jonathan_Lindh: AEEEIRT 1A TAE +17 350
#note I don't know. Another agonizing turn. I think Marty has the blank at this point and I want to kill the A line. I probaby need to do 11E HERE for 26 and pray but this pull of all vowels was very bad.
>Marty_Gabriel: EINOPRU 4B ...I +8 320
#note CRAP! He has the blank!
>Jonathan_Lindh: EEIMRRU 3E MURR +11 361
#note Maybe HERE again given the 3 line AND the open E. Probably just concede the bingo. This last part of the game was very confusing.
>Marty_Gabriel: ?DEILNO 4H EIDOLoN +69 389
#note And sure enough he has a rack of the GODS! Well he also had bingos through the E. Maybe if I had done HERE I could have outran him. He played this ovver the higher scoring EIDOLON to be extra safe. I agree with his choice.
>Jonathan_Lindh: EEEIOOU 5J OE +11 372
#note You can't make this pull up. I need to see 9G OE for 7 more but I was irritated at this point.
>Marty_Gabriel: ACM 2D CAM +28 417
#note Adding insult to injury.
>Jonathan_Lindh: EEIORTU 1E RETIE +26 398
#note 2nd best play! I miss the Nigel-esque HERETO at 11E for 32 but who see that? Plus I think UI goes out.
>Marty_Gabriel: DNOPY N2 PO.Y +18 435
>Jonathan_Lindh: OU N8 .OU +10 408
#note Best play!
>Jonathan_Lindh: (DN) +6 414
#note Finals score recorded as 425-413 because Marty went a 55 seconds over and I underscored WOOF by 1 point. I think I could have won this game had things gone a little differently. So disappointing to let a game you were leading slip through the cracks against a great player like Marty. However, fairly well played game on both sides.
